The French sculptor Ernest Justin Ferrand studied under Moreau and Levasseur. He became a member of 'La Société des Artistes Francais' in 1891.
'Coup de Vent' was a popular theme around 1900, typically depicting a young scarcely dressed female figure, acting surprised by a wind gust. This sculpture excels by its fine craftsmanship and detailed casting quality, particularly the face, hands and feet. The sculpture has a warm authentic bronze patina, showing traces of the original gold plating, now almost fully worn off (thank God for that)
